Let’s Say Good-Bye to the Double Wave
Women’s fashion magazines, daytime talk shows, my personal shopper at my favorite boutique. What do they have in common? They all tell me women over fifty should not go sleeveless. But try finding a pretty little holiday top, a sexy New Years Eve dress, a Mother of The Bride’s dress, or a feminine summer shirt.
If these special pieces of clothing have sleeves, chances are you will not feel as though you appear special in them. Why? Because arms and shoulders represent youth, beauty, and sensuality. Beautiful arms and shoulders help guide your eye towards a woman’s breasts, to the woman herself. She may be your life’s partner, a politician running for office, a motivational speaker, a Real Estate agent or a teacher. A well defined arm, such as those created by Dr. John A. Millard with Vaser Hi Def Liposculpture, will end the double wave and return the focus on the woman as a whole, and what she may be saying or doing. When I raise my arm to waive good-bye, let me feel confident that the attention I receive in return is on my smile, not on my double wave.

Every year hundreds of families dread the holidays. Parents feel heavy with guilt and frustration because
they cannot afford to provide something special for their children, and children, in turn, feel awkward and sad that the excitement of the holidays skips their home. Adopt a Family gives these children and parents a very special holiday instead. I am so excited that we as an office haven adopted a family from the Denver Rescue Mission so that we can do our part to make the holidays special for a family that otherwise might do without.

Bod:evolve employees and family gathered at Dr. Millard’s house to wrap gifts for our adopted family. The event was a huge success, with an overwhelming amount of generosity from all of those who participated. It is amazing and heartwarming to all pull together to make a family who is in need have such a wonderful Christmas. This is an office tradition that everyone loves to participate in and we look forward to many more years of supporting this cause.

I want to talk about cosmetic surgery for the body, and how that works with body wellness. All too often, people see the two as antagonists. Liposuction, for example, is often considered as a failure for a person’s fitness regimen. The idea is that you don’t need a cosmetic procedure, if you’re doing your fitness regimen correctly.
I’d like to offer a different interpretation. As a cosmetic surgeon, I’ve done procedures on patients with less than 10% body fat. These are people who are physically fit, who work out regularly and who watch out for their bodies.
With traditional liposuction, around 50% of lipo patients work out regularly or semi-regularly. In contrast, approximately 95% of the patients who come to us for body sculpting procedures work out. And we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of patients who work out regularly. I’ve had patients tell me that they take their exercise more seriously, after having a cosmetic procedure which shows them just what their body is capable of looking like.
I believe that the new generation of body sculpting technology would be better considered as an adjunct to a person’s fitness regimen, and not its opposite. Body sculpting can be used to target genetic problem areas, areas which may never see significant improvement even with a regular work-out regimen. Instead of getting discouraged by their lack of results in the weight room, patients can use liposculpture to augment their results, and further motivate them to ascend to new heights of personal fitness.
Wishing you good health,
Dr. Millard
