Breast Asymmetry
After cosmetic surgery, it is quite common to notice asymmetries. What people don’t realize is that our bodies are asymmetrical to begin with, we just become more aware post-operatively. We use the term “sisters not twins” when referring to breast or opposite sides of the body. Dr. John Millard will do his best to make the body more “even” or symmetrical, but it is impossible to make each side perfectly even. After surgery, patients tend to obsess about the area of the body that was treated and point out all the details. This is one of the many reasons why it is so important to take pre-operative photographs. Photographs will remind the patient what they looked like before surgery as it is not unusually for someone to forget what they looked like prior to surgery. It is important to remember that cosmetic surgery is intended to make the body more cosmetically appealing and symmetrical, but will never make it “perfect”.
