Who is not a good candidate for either traditional Liposuction or VASER Hi Def?
Dr. Millard feels that this is an interesting question because some patients who come to us for VASER Hi Def lipoSculpture procedures aren’t necessarily good candidates.
For them to have a sculpted appearance in one part of their body yet have a flaccid appearance in another part of their body would not necessarily make them look natural. We often refer these patients on with the same technology traditionally either the VASER or Laser technique to have a more traditional approach to their fat removal.
What plan of action / offerings do you have for these patients?
For a patient who doesn’t necessarily have the lifestyle whether it be nutrition, dieting or exercising, we first of all counsel patients that have liposuction and VASER Hi Def which are both techniques and are part of the program. A successful body sculpting patient whether it be traditional liposuction or VASER Hi Def requires a lifestyle they are continuing.
For the patient who currently has a good lifestyle, we came up with a concept called bod:evolve. Bod:evolve isn’t only an approach to patient ‘s for body sculpting using liposuction techniques and technologies but we work in conjunction with the gym, in our building with personal trainers who will address the patients needs for understanding how to start and continue exercising. We also provide nutritional counseling for these patients so they can make lifestyle changes and learn to make them most successful in there liposuction experience.

Liposuction is not for all patients. Patients who do not have a good exercise regimen or a great dieting history may perhaps benefit from some preoperative counseling in these areas before proceeding with liposuction. On occasion, liposuction can be used as a jump start for both dieting and exercising.
One interesting note, many of the VASER Hi Def LipoSculpture patients actually go on from their procedure to have improvements in their workouts, most notably because of increased motivation to want to work out harder to maintain their results. This can also be seen in some of our traditional liposuction patients.

Dr. Millard just came back from The Aesthetic Show in Las Vegas.
The Aesthetic Show is a multi specialty show featuring the latest and greatest in new techniques and technologies in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. John A. Millard was a featured speaker for two of the most popular and advanced procedures in liposuction. As one of the pioneers in Vaser High Def and advanced liposuction techniques. Dr. Millard spoke about this to almost two thousand people. Also, he was a featured speaker introducing Smart Lipo a revolutionary laser liposuction technique.

Liposuction in the Denver area has evolved into one of the safest procedures in plastic surgery. A good liposuction surgeon is one that does the procedure a lot, understands the differences in fat-anatomy throughout the body, and understands the proper use of the many tools that are available to him or her to remove fat and help the skin tighten. Many of the earlier complications that physicians were seeing with older more traditional liposuction are being minimized by the use of significant improvements in liposculpting and liposuction technology. Two of the most significant additions to this include that of the VASER ultrasound liposuction system and the Smartlipo Laserlipolysis system. Both of these take advantage of an additional step in the bodysculpting and liposuction process whereby they prepare the fat in a way that allows it to be more gently removed, thus minimizing trauma to surrounding tissues. This results in a more rapid less bruising, less swelling, and more rapid recovery in many instances. These technologies also allow the surgeon with proper training to be aggressive in many cases and obtain results previously unobtainable by older, dated technologies. One example of this is VASER HI def Liposculpture.
