It is important to avoid several types of medications prior to and following surgery. One specific type of medicine is anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Motrin and Aspirin. These medications are blood thinners and could cause potential problems if taken 2 weeks before and after surgery. Celebrex is the only anti-inflammatory that you can take without being at risk of bleeding. It is an expensive drug that many insurance companies will not cover. However, Dr. Millard highly recommends it after large liposuction cases because of the amount of swelling. If Celebrex is taken, not only does it help reduce swelling but also helps relieve pain and speeds up the recovery. It allows patients to wean off their pain meds faster and return to their normal activities.

My breast lift and breast augmentation with Dr. John Millard. I am now 5 weeks out from my surgery- my results are FANTASTIC- and looking back, the surgery was a breeze- nothing like I expected!

I will continue to tell my story of my breast augmentation and breast lift with Dr. John Millard…

After my surgery I went home and took pain pills as prescribed for about 5 days solid. To be honest I never felt any pain like I thought I would- but that very well could be from the fact that I took the pain pills continuously. I went off the pain pills a little earlier than Dr. Millard had suggested, because I wanted to get back into my normal routine as much as possible. Because of my breast lift, I wasn’t allowed to lift my daughter (25lbs0 for at least 4 weeks. That was the worst part of my surgery- because I had to hold myself back from doing it, because to be honest- I didn’t have any muscle pain like I thought I would, and I felt good enough to pick her up. Dr. Millard explained to me that there were inside stitches that needed 4 weeks to heal- and that was why I couldn’t lift more than a gallon jug of milk. I trust Dr. Millard, so I was diligent about following the rules for my aftercare. On about day 7 post op, my breasts began itching like crazy! It lasted for about 4 days and I took as much benadryl as allowed each day! I guess pain medications, and healing can cause itching like that. My sutures came out on day 10- and that was totally painless as well.

I am now 5 weeks out from my surgery- my results are FANTASTIC- and looking back, the surgery was a breeze- nothing like I expected! Dr. Millard did an amazig job of knowing what size would compliment my body and frame- and my breast lift makes all the difference.

My experience having a Breast Lift and a Breast Augmentation with Dr. John Millard

It has now been 3 ½ weeks since my breast lift and breast augmentation surgery and I look and feel amazing! The surgery itself I would rate a 3 on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst). I was so surprised at how painless and easy it was! I arrived at the surgery center for my surgery at 1:00 and my surgery was scheduled for 2:30pm. The staff at Renewal Surgery Center was wonderful! They have all the latest equipment and are SO friendly. They put me to ease immediately and talked me through every step of the process. For me, I was really scared to get the IV put in my arm- but Ally, was very skilled in what she does, and it was painless on my part. After that, Dr. Millard went over the procedure with me again, verified some of my breast measurements and made sure I was comfortable and all of my questions were answered. Anesthesia then came in, and after that… all I remember is waking up to 2 wonderful recovery nurses! They asked me if I wanted to see my new breasts before they put me in a sports bra type of garment. I was hesitant, because I was afraid that I would look like Frankenstein- but to my surprise, they looked FANTASTIC! My breast have NEVER looked that good! Dr. Millard went with a 250cc implant for me, which with my breast lift, it looks very natural and it fits my body frame beautifully. I couldn’t be happier with my results! I went home that evening and was in no pain at all. I had my mom and sister take turns staying with me and helping me with my 18 month old toddler. To be continued…

Generally speaking, most men and women want to look their best, and they work very hard at trying to achieve a certain standard that they have set for themselves. I swear that aging is a cruel joke that is played on the human race! Personally I feel young and vibrant- just as I did when I was in high school. however, more and more I look in the mirror and realize that age is rearing it’s ugly head!

There are so many wonderful things that can help slow the signs of aging. I am a huge fan of Botox, and Photo Rejuvenation Facials. Our skin department, Skin Essentials, offers a wide variety of solutions for every type of skin issue. With aging also comes loose or sagging skin- bot just on the face but on the body as well. Having just has a baby 17 months ago, I am dealing with sagging breasts. I have a breast lift surgery and a breast augmentation scheduled with Dr. John Millard in April and I am so excited! Dr. Millard also is able to tighten and tone up skin while doing Smartlipo, Smartlipo MPX, Vaser Hi Def, and Vaser Liposelection. There are so many different options out there to help both men and women look there best.

I think one of the biggest decisions is choosing a qualified Plastic Surgeon. If you are looking to have Plastic Surgery, look no further than Denver’s own John A Millard, MD. The moment you meet us, whether it is on the phone or in person- you will know that you have made the right choice in choosing Millard Plastic Surgery Center to help you achieve your goals. Dr. Millard is a stellar surgeon and he has a phenomenal staff that supports him and his patients.

Here are a few words from our patients…

“I am extremely satisfied with my results. I can’t believe my stomach looks so flat. Breasts look very natural. Almost too natural”.

“Dr. Millard offered IV sedation and pain pump. He was very down to earth as was staff. Appointments were prompt and efficient. The entire office was very professional and made me feel confident that I would achieve my desired results”.

“Dr. Millard and staff are fabulous!”.

“Wonderful office and people”.

Please call our office at 303-792-5665 or send us an e-mail at info@millardplasticsurgery.com and we will be more than happy to discuss all of the wonderful options that are available to you!

Spring is around the corner, and for the first time in years I’ll be able to wear a cute golf skirt or even a pair of shorts on the golf course. No more having to wear slacks or Capris on the 90 degree days. Why? Nine days ago Dr. Millard performed Vaser Liposelection on my knees and inner & outer thighs. I was back to work four days later, at my desk, legs elevated on my waste basket with 2 pillows under my knees. Ideal? Not exactly, but my time off this summer is being reserved for fun times on the links. Plastic Surgery does not have to be extensive or expensive to make a major impact on your life. Even if I had opted to forgo my thighs and have only my knees treated with Smartlipo or MPX under a local anesthetic, I would have felt good again wearing skirts or shorts. Why did I wait so long? Bring on Spring and Summer. This year I’m ready.

If you are interested in getting more information on Vaser Liposelection or on Smartlipo or Smartlipo MPX, please give us a call at 303-792-5665 or send us an e-mail at info@millardplasticsurgery.com.

My Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation Story… continued

Hello Again! To recap my story, I am a 33 yr old (soon to be 34!) woman, living in Denver, Colorado. I had my first baby 15 months ago, and gained 75 pounds with my pregnancy (Yikes!). I have now lost 65lbs and I am no longer breast feeding my daughter. I loved being pregnant, and I loved breast feeding- but I hate what the weight gain then weight loss and breast feeding did to my breasts. So, I am scheduling a Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation with Dr. John Millard. The only catch is, I started lightly smoking a few months back- and I have to be sober from nicotine for 3 months before Dr. Millard will operate on Me.

Well, I am pleased to announce that on February 2 , 2009 it will be 2 weeks that I have been sober from nicotine! Now, I only have 2 ½ more months to go until I get my beautiful breasts! I am getting so excited! As I mentioned in a previous blog, I am very much afraid of any surgical procedures. However, I was surfing the Millard Plastic Surgery website and I came across a 3D Animated Program that walks you through every step of your procedure in order to to help you to better understand the surgery- http://www.millardplasticsurgery.com/understand.html. Wow! I swear the lady with her before breasts looks exactly like my breasts, and I LOVE the after results for her. I know it’s only animation- but I am very confident that Dr. Millard will get that result for me!

I am going to make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Millard in 2 more weeks. That will be 1 month of nicotine sobriety then, and only 2 months until my surgery! I will post pictures when they take them at my consultation visit.

My name is Heidi and I am a 33 year old female. I have a daughter who is 14 months old. I gained 73 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter! My breast went from a full size C cup to an F while I was pregnant. I breastfed my daughter for 7 months after she was born and I loved every minute of it. I have lost almost all of my pregnancy weight- with only 15 more pounds to go (the hardest 15lbs I might add!). Before I had my daughter via c-section- I was one of those people who would pass out 3 times when they take my blood! I have a MAJOR phobia of needles and get queasy when I even think about anything remotely related to having surgery. However, since I had my daughter, I feel a little more confident in myself when it comes to surgery. Which brings me to why I am writing this blog… I have decided that I want to have a much needed breast lift and breast augmentation in 2009! Just making the decision was a huge step for me. I really think that it is going to give me some of my confidence back and make me look at my body as I did before I had my daughter! I am way to young not to feel sexy! I am still very unnerved by surgery, but I know that Dr. Millard and his assistant Kim, will take the best care of me, and provide me with EXCELLENT results. I started smoking lightly about 2 months ago, so I was informed by Dr. Millard that I need to be sober from cigarettes for at least 3 months before he will do the surgery on me. It has to do with the way your body heals, or should I say doesn’t heal properly because of smoking. So, I am taking medication to help me quit, and I am even going to give acupuncture a shot to help ease me out of smoking. My goal is to be tobacco free on 1/8/09 so that I can schedule my surgery the 2nd week in March. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be having these procedures! In a month when I go in for my appointment with Kim and Dr. Millard, I will post some before pictures as well as my post op pictures after the surgery. I haven’t even begun to look at pictures of what I want yet, but I am sure that Dr. Millard and Kim can help me with those decisions as well. If anyone out there has a story like mine, I would love to here from you!
